Hurricane Irene shopping list

Decided to do a little grocery shopping last night 1) because I legit had no food in my apartment and 2) I’m confident Seamless won’t deliver in the middle of the storm, so I really had no other choice.

Want to know what I bought to prepare for this bitch of a storm?

  1. Chef Boyardee (did you know they have whole grain letters and meatballs? SCORE!)
  2. 2 cans of tuna (absolute last resort)
  3. 2 bottles of seltzer (water was sold out so I thought seltzer was a good replacement)
  4. A bunch of juices from Liquiteria (this is the perfect weekend to go on a juice cleanse, no?)
  5. Hummus
  6. Guacamole
  7. Frank’s hot sauce
  8. 2 handles of vodka
  9. 3 tomatoes
  10. Apple sauce
Pretty sure this what weather.com recommends, no?

How do you handle a hangover at work?

Cause I’m currently chugging an Arnold Palmer and sitting with my pants unbuttoned (I have a long shirt on) and it’s not doing much for me.

Any suggestions?

UPDATE:

Just found this in my work inbox (sent last night at 10:51PM)

I like to call this "The Bowlmor Wink"

Does crying at the end of Band of Brothers make me less of a man?

So I just finished the epic mini-series Band of Brothers last night. Yes I know 10 years late, but a series like that only gets better with time. For those who still don’t know Band of Brothers is the story of Easy Company of the US Army 101st Airborne division and their journey during WW2 from Normandy, to the Battle of the Bulge, to discovering concentration camps to the end of the war.

Anyhew, the final two episodes of the series were gut wrenching. As I alluded to above, in these two episodes, the soldiers discover concentration camps for the 1st time in history and then their realization that the war is over and they’ll be going home to see their families after years of being away. So I could sit here all day and talk about the entire series, but I can’t lie that these two episodes made me well up and the lower lip tremble (for the record, tears never came down my face). So my question to you – for most people I’m assuming you’ve already seen this series – Is it okay that this war drama made me sorta cry?? Do I have to go watch a Steven Segal movie right now to get back on track? I think it’s acceptable, but I can’t be sure.

Man’s best friend until the end

And commence Thursday morning cry session:

Discovery.com – The dog of slain Petty Officer Jon Tumilson refused to leave his side during the Navy SEAL’s funeral earlier this week in Rockford, Iowa. The heartbreaking photo taken by his cousin, Lisa Pembleton, shows Tumilson’s dog Hawkeye lying by the casket.

Navy SEAL U.S. Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Jon T. Tumilson was among the 30 American troops killed August 6 when Taliban insurgents downed their Chinook helicopter with a rocket-propelled grenade. At his funeral in Iowa, his dog Hawkeye paid his last respects, walking up to the casket, lying down in front of it, and heaving a sigh.

I’m confident my cats Eva and Elsie would do the same thing if I died. They might piss on my ashes but they’ll be there.
