Florence + The Machine cover Drake’s Take Care

I LOVE when indie artists cover rap songs. It’s right up there with chicken nuggets and sneakers for me. Case and point, when Lissie covered Kid Cudi’s Pursuit of Happiness. I feel that it allows the lyrics to truly be appreciated. Most people write off rap because of the facade that that its all about money, cash, hoes (which sometimes it is) but there real poetry in the genre and that’s what always gets lost. This cover here is just a prime example of what these artists are capable of doing.

Don’t cheat on your boyfriend.. especially if he’s your tattoo artist

Or you might just end up with a steaming pile of poo on your back.

VeryWeirdNews – Tattoo artist, Ryan L. Fitzjerald was hit with a $100,000 lawsuit last week by his ex-girlfriend Rossie Brovent.  She claims that her boyfriend was supposed to tattoo a scene from Narnia on her back but instead tattooed an image of a pile of excrement with flies buzzing around it.

Apparently Ryan found out that she had cheated with a long-time friend of his and this was his way of getting even.

I think the most overlooked part of this story is that the dirty cheating whore originally wanted a complete back tattoo of a scene from Narnia. Yes, Narnia, and for that she needed to be punished. Maybe a still-life of a poop was a little much, but I think he had the right idea here. I think we can all learn a few lessons from this story.. don’t cheat on your boyfriend, and don’t idolize children stories.

Australia’s stance on marriage equality

Welp… well that was moving. Maybe because I’m a straight male with many gay friends, I take these topics a little too seriously..but c’mon it’s 2011, if you’re not in line with marriage equality, you need to crawl out from under that rock you’re living and lighten up. What is the issue? and don’t talk to me about the ruining the sanction of marriage. You lost that argument months ago….

Weekend video even though it’s Wednesday

Just like most of America, today is our Friday. That means, the chances of us making posts tomorrow and Friday are just as slim as they are when it’s Saturday and Sunday. Not because we’re lazy (we are) but because we’ll be passed out from overdosing on turkey and stuffing.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Stache of the day: Creepy Waters

Not to be confused with Crystal Waters’s 100% Pure Love, today’s stache goes out to all the creeps out there.

Kristen Wiig is looking goooood

No really. She’s looking real hot. I was a big fan of her when she was in the D in a Box skit a few years back, because what’s not to love? Hot, funny, successful, and from this recent GQ shoot – sexy!

P.S. I’m hungover.

Is rapping Bieber legit?

So this is the 2nd video that’s gone viral with Justin Bieber spitting a freestyle, and this is the 2nd video that Biebs’ rapping ability actually impressed me. I really wanted to give a little background how about how he was excluded from the BET Cypher freestyles because he was going to have Luda write his verse, but I don’t have the time. SO, I’ll save that conversation for his 3rd video, which I’m sure will be coming out in about 4 hours. For now, let the man spit!

Stache of the day: The Sipowicz

Today’s stache is a 90s throwback (because no one watched NYPD Blue in the 2000′s) to NYPD Blue star Andy Sipowicz. Full disclosure, I never watched NYPD Blue, but I heard it was a great show (completely full disclosure, I’m not sure I even heard that, I just know it was on TV all the time). Regardless, Dennis Franz had a mean upper lip coat that just screamed “cop”.

See Mix Drink: A Review

MMango and I had the chance to check out a copy of Brian D. Murphy’s new book See Mix Drink – an at-home cocktail guide pretty much necessary for any and every home (or maybe not?) entertaining situation.

Excited to receive our copies, MMango and I IM’d each other every day wondering who would receive their copy first. Yes, we’re 25 and yes, we’re super competitive. Get over it. Needless to say, MMango received his copy first. I was disappointed to say the least, but then I actually got my book and my disappointment faded reaaaaaal quick.

I could go on and on about how this is the perfect book for aspiring mixologists and booze enthusiasts alike because it’s an easy-to-follow, visual recipe book for every major cocktail you could possibly fathom making and/or drinking.

I could also go on about its made-for-dummies organization and color coordination.

I could also hype up the fact that the book is sprinkled with cocktail tidbits, so you can say things like “Did you know the Zombie was introduced in 1939 at the World’s Fair?” or “Did you know an estimated 120,000 Mint Juleps are served at Churchill Downs over the Kentucky Oakes and Kentucky Derby races?” while you’re serving beverages.

But I won’t.

Cause all that matters is that you can see it for yourself thanks to the kind folks at GQ who pulled together an interactive version.

You’re welcome.

But in all seriousness, if you’re legit about pre-gaming and fixing up cocktails while you’re at home, you should probably get this book. It’s super easy to follow, so when you’re a few too many drinks deep, you don’t even have to read a long and complicated recipe to continue to get your drink on; the icon-graphics will serve as a guide…even if you are seeing double.

See Mix Drink is available for $10.19 on Amazon.com or $14.99 in stores. Now go get your drink on!
