The Hood Internet, one of the best mash-up artists in the game today, just released a new mash-up of the late Whitney Houston’s How Will I Know, and my faves, Chromeo’s When the Night Falls. So break out your fancy footwork, and dance with somebody.
I’ve never owned an Apple product. As you may recall, I’m the only person on earth who has never actually owned an iPod (what up, Zune!) BUT I did hear on Good Morning America this morning that Steve Jobs once spent weeks in India eating only apples because he thought it would cleanse his body. He was also dropping a shit ton of acid. Anyways, he sounds like my kind of guy whether I want to associate myself with his products or not. Not sure if that’s a good transistion, but just wanted to offer our blogging respects to a true innovator.
I know there’s a lot of younger pics of him, but you’ve got to admit it: he was kind of a fox.
Since MMango had his Biggie shout out post, I only felt it appropriate to do my own and share with you two of my favorite vids. Not as hardcore of a Biggie fan as MMango but a fan nonetheless.
I legit owned this single (which had the vocal and instrumental versions) and listened to it on repeat. I also used to belt it out at the top of my lungs at every BCC (Bristol Community Center) dance and purposefully did not slow dance with anyone cause it just would have been too emotional. (It may have also been due to the fact that I was about a foot-and-a-half shorter than all my classmates, but I’ll never admit that)
I also used to seriously rock out to this song, watching MTV in my family room and being oddly entertained by the bouncing smiley face during the chorus. God, remember when MTV used to actually play music video and Diddy referred to himself as Puff Daddy and almost got J.Lo arrested? Man…those were the days.
Did you know Jack LaLanne, workout guru and fitness extraordinare, towed 70 boats with 70 people from the Queen’s Way Bridge in Long Beach Harbor to the Queen Mary — while handcuffed and shackled. Oh, and he was 70 when he did this. Simply amazing. RIP, Jack. R.I.P.
Saw a girl on the subway with a bouquet of flowers and “RIP (insert friends name here) – june 22, 2010″ written in washable marker on her arm. It got me thinking about how best to pay respect to a dead person.
Most people are probably wearing black today (here’s looking at you MMango), but what’s more respectful/shows your love and dedication than temporary artwork all over your body?
So step it up MJ fans and bust out the old box of crayola to ink yourself…
Well it’s been 1 year, but it feels like it was just yesterday, we lost the legend. No, I’m not talking about Michael Jackson, but Farah Fawcett……… who am I kidding, of course I’m talking about Michael “The fuckin’ KING OF POP” Jackson (much love FF). Michael is irreplaceable. There will never be “The Next MJ” as he is one of a kind. His intensity and love for his music and fans is unmatched. I’ll never forget the day he died as I learned about it on the train home from work. I thought it was a joke. As soon as I got home I was glued to the TV listening to reporters flip flop about his condition more than Kristie Alley flip flops about her weight (she’s fat, she’s skinny, she’s fat again). And then that was it. He was gone. But it’s never good to dwell upon a death, but rather look back and see how he lived, and that’s what I continue to do today.
And if anyone is curious… yes I’m wearing all black today (with white socks holla).
[Note to the Haters: If anyone tries to make a negative comment I will come to your house and stick my foot knee deep in your asshole and then give you a Dirty Sanchez with my big toe]
